UPDATE: Supreme Court refuses to issue injunction.

An update to this story: Supreme Court Will Rule On Carp

The United States Supreme Court today rejected Michigan’s request for an emergency injunction to close river locks surrounding Chicago in order to prevent Asian carp from entering the Great Lakes.  The court must now consider a request to reopen a 90-year-old case against Illinois and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, which seeks to force closure of the locks. The request to reopen the interstate lawsuit will be reviewed on April 16. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will also continue to conduct research on Asian carp and will determine by April 30 whether or not it will close Chicago-area river lock.
