Treesitters Come Down Off Coal River Mountain
The two remaining tree sitters on Coal River Mountain, Amber Nitchman and Eric Blevins, came down from their platforms Friday, 29 January, and were arrested by West Virginia State Police. It concluded the nine day protest by the local activist group Climate Ground Zero.
David Aaron Smith, Amber Nitchman, Eric Blevins, David Baghdadi, Isabelle Rozendaal, Benard Fiorillo, and Josh Graupera were all directly involved in executing the tree sit. Their combined bail amount is $9,625. Climate Ground Zero is accepting contributions to their legal defense fund. This money is eventually returned to CGZ, and is used for future campaigns.
