In honor of Michael Jackson, the 2010 Grammy Awards in Los Angeles dedicated a 3-D Tribute to the King of Pop and his legacy. But instead of focusing on MJ’s numerous music awards and historical accomplishments, the Tribute gloriously emphasized Michael Jackson’s dedication to raising awareness on issues of environment, charity, and philanthropy. The result was simply unforgettable. MJ’s music goes beyond sheer talent and genius. He truly wanted to make the world a better place through his art.

Smokey Robinson, Motown Legend and close friend of MJ, commenced the 10-minute tribute with praise:

“‘We Are The World’ is a reflection of Michael’s belief that you can’t wait for this world to change, we must do something about it… In the song we are about to hear, Michael beautifully expresses the need for our humanity to be in greater harmony with Mother Earth… The most gifted artists in the world today - who were touched by Michael’s music - come together to sing Michael’s song with him to help spread the message that meant so much to him: That we are the world and that we better start taking care of it.”

As the Tribute began, Michael Jackson’s own voice was heard, “I respect the secrets and the magic of nature. That’s why it makes me so angry when I see these things that are happening… That’s why I write these kind of songs, you know. It gives some sense of awareness and awakening and hope to people. I love the planet… I love trees and the changing colors of leaves. I love it! And I respect these things.”

A host of award-winning musicians then took the stage to sing MJ’s “Earth Song” in his memory. The vocal talents of Celine Dion, Usher, Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, and Smokey Robinson made for truly stunning performance.

Jackson’s children, Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11, made their first public appearance since their father’s passing. “We love you daddy,” Paris told the crowd at the end of the Tribute.
