Blue Skies Glassworks - Jody Freij-Tonder

{title} Jody Freij-Tonder says that her commitment to the environment goes back to the early seventies and the first Earth Day.  While attending a stained glass workshop she saw and embraced the possibilities of using recycled materials to create work that was not only beautiful but also has a beautiful message.

Using reclaimed glass has obviously evolved into a passion for Jody Freij-Tonder, who is always on the lookout for materials for her handcrafted earth friendly jewelry.  Having built a network among stained glass artist who supply her with a wide array of colored glass remnants, as well as scouring recycling centers for glass bottles and jars, she’s always on the lookout for anything made of glass that can be transformed into a lasting tribute to the future.

Blue Skies Glassworks, home to two artist (see Michael Tonder) doesn’t stop there, they buy wind power credits from the local power coop to offset Jody’s kiln firing costs, and they help support a 70 acre Tree Farm to cover part of their carbon footprint.

See Below for some nice collages of her jewelry.
