Sandy Lonsdale.  Forest and Rangeland activist for over a decade, Sandy was a Sierra Club leader in Oregon volunteering for and rebuilding the Juniper Group, eastern 2/3 of Oregon, largest geographical scope of any Club entity, and acting as chapter leader and Oregon delegate to the NW Regional Conservation Committee for the national organization. His focus was and is Northwest forest, public lands livestock grazing, OHV and Salmon issues.

Sandy is a graduate of the University of Oregon Journalism School (’85) and has worked in the environmental remediation field as a geo-technical specialist.  As an environmental writer and professional photographer, Sandy’s work has been published in dozens of local and national publications and he self published calendars in the early 1990s highlighting the Northwest forest issue.  His contribution to the conservation community is bringing stories and photos from remote wild-lands to inspire and activate the public to protect more of our natural heritage.

While working for a renewable energy firm in Bend, Sandy helped lobby state and national organizations and public officials for renewable energy portfolio standards in several states and nationally to spur the development of clean renewable energy resources.  He has specialized in geothermal and biomass energy resource development through political activism, public speaking, writing and photography.  Sandy now lives with his wife and three great dogs in Moab, Utah, where they own and operate two green lodging establishments, The Kokopelli Lodge and Suites.
