Jeremy Bloom has been living green since before it was cool. And writing about it.

His publication credits range from Playboy to Parenting, and he recently composed content for an exhibit on climate change at the new California Academy of Sciences museum in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. He’s been a senior editor for a monthly magazine, and written three screenplays (not, as of yet, produced).

He likes to take a hands-on approach to life, so he also has mucked about in cobb, planted organic strawberry beds, created raw-food meals, done green carpentry, milked sheep, served as deputy campaign manager for a congressional race, helped run music festivals, dug into archeological sites in Israel and the arctic, white-water rafted down rivers in Thailand and the Adirondacks, gone skin-diving in the Red Sea, and danced until dawn in an old-growth redwood forest.

He lives in Eugene, Oregon with his wife Lyra and two cats, Navi and Sylvanus.

Covering less than a quarter of a percent of the ocean’s surface, coral reefs support twenty-five percent of all marine life! Coral reefs are also among the most threatened environments in the world today.

  2. Ocean Dead Zones are Spreading

    Posted March 11, 2010
    in Restoration Campaign

A new type of dead zone is growing off our coasts - low-oxygen regions that kill fish. Scientists aren't sure why this is happening, but they're concerned that this is one more manifestation of climate change that nobody anticipated.

  3. Sea Level Rise – Is It Really Such A Big Deal?

    Posted March 3, 2010
    in Restoration Campaign

If I told you the ocean was expected to rise twelve inches over the next 40 years, that doesn't sound like much... but if I told you the maximum wave size had gone from 33 feet to 46 feet, would that get your attention?

  4. The Farley Mowat Receives a Boarding Party

    Posted February 26, 2010
    in Restoration Campaign

She's been in the front lines of the Whale Wars, and engaged in "in-your-face" environmental activism. But now she's under new ownership and management, and the good ship Farley Mowat is about to start a new life.
