   Hundreds of volunteers collected mangrove seedlings from various Miami-Dade County locations where they would otherwise have perished and then distributed them to retail and commercial businesses in South Beach, schools and the Miami Science Museum.

   Even though some dams no longer serve a purpose, they continue to have negative impacts on the estuary and freshwater community, they eliminate access to other parts of the river by various species of fish and fall into disrepair through neglect. Enter Stantec, a company that is actively trying to restore natural flows to unneeded dams.
